Chapter 7:

Narrow your focus – choosing the 3 pillars of your business

In the context of this book, “pillars” refer to the foundational strategies or key focus areas critical for the success and expansion of your real estate business. These pillars are more than just routine tasks or short-term goals; they represent long-term commitments that require consistent effort and attention. They are the non-negotiable aspects of your business, deeply ingrained elements that significantly impact your bottom line, acting as the bedrock upon which your enduring business success is built.

We also advise our team members to embrace this focused approach. In the ever-evolving real estate industry, laden with distractions like new lead sources, exciting conferences, and the latest trends, it’s easy to fall prey to the “shiny object syndrome.”

However, we prioritize our top three pillars, setting aside new opportunities that don’t align with these core objectives. This disciplined focus ensures that our energy and resources are channeled effectively towards activities that are crucial for our business growth.

We recommend experimenting with various strategies at the beginning, followed by a thorough refining process to focus on those that show promise and suit your style. This exploratory and refining phase should ideally span 2-3 months. After pinpointing your top strategies, it’s essential to commit wholeheartedly to these three pillars for a full year. A few months are insufficient to truly measure the return on investment (ROI). This sustained effort is key to realizing the full potential and impact of your chosen strategies on your business’s growth and success.
